Alma Verde is a creative non-fiction narrative feature about two lovers who travel to Peru to end their seven-year relationship. Maria, a guarded climate scientist on the verge of a new career in Washington, D.C., fears that commitment will trap her in cycles of sacrifice. Pablo, recently sober and grappling with a lifelong sense of loss, longs for stability and roots. With a small inheritance, he proposes one final journey together through Peru’s Sacred Valley—a deliberate goodbye to the relationship that shaped their twenties.

As they move through the region’s mountains and villages, the landscape reflects the quiet unraveling of their bond. Non-chronological flashbacks to their life together in Los Angeles reveal the intimacy, passion, and codependency that once held them together. Confronting the painful truth that they want different futures, Maria and Pablo attempt to separate love from attachment. In the end, they part not out of anger, but care - discovering that sometimes the most loving choice is to let go.
